Lexy Kimler is an emerging designer who has recently graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria’s Theatre Program. Lexy has been fortunate enough to get hands-on experience during their undergraduate degree, designing two mainstages (Twelfth Night in 2025, and Im:Print 2024) along with a variety of student-led new works with SATCo.

While Lexy’s education has been predominantly focused on lighting and scenic design, they have also been working as a technician. Holding a union card since spring of 2024, in IATSE 168. They are hoping to make their jump into IATSE 118 and 891 as well. Lexy has worked as a Head Electrician and Assistant Technical Director, and in a variety of other roles. Regardless of which position they’re in, they takes the opportunity to analyze and learn the craft of theatre-making from other more experienced technicians and designers in hopes of becoming a better designer themselves.

Lexy is looking at attending Graduate school come the fall of 2027, with a pending offer from The Royal Welsh College of Drama’s MA in Lighting Design. Although they’re still considering whether to attend this program, Lexy is eager to learn and better their craft.
